How to Prepare
-
Combine: Empty the contents of your Elderberry Syrup Kit into a stainless steel pot and add 4 cups of water.
-
Simmer: Bring to a boil, then reduce heat to a gentle simmer. Let it simmer for 45 minutes, covered or uncovered.
Tip: Keep it at a light simmer—too much heat will reduce your liquid more than intended. -
Cool and Strain: Once finished, remove from heat and allow to cool. Strain the mixture through a cheesecloth or flour sack towel into a large measuring cup.
-
Sweeten: Measure your liquid, then add raw honey at a 2:1 ratio — that’s 2 parts syrup to 1 part honey (for example, 2 cups syrup + 1 cup honey). Stir well to combine.
-
Store: Pour your finished syrup into a clean jar and refrigerate. Keeps for about 2–3 months.
Yield: Approximately 24- 32 oz of syrup per kit.
